Lincolnshire Health Awards success for Nettleham practice
Nettleham Medical Practice has been crowned as the best GP Surgery in the county at the first ever Lincolnshire Health Awards.
The surgery scooped the prize at the sold out awards ceremony at The Bentley Hotel on November 14.
More than 200 people attended the black tie event. 15 awards were handed out to hard working, dedicated professionals across all different sectors of health care.
Nettleham Medical Practice is the only CQC outstanding rated practice in the Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group area.
During the CQC inspection, the inspectors praised the practice’s voluntary driving scheme.
It has seen 13 volunteers carry out more than 11,000 journeys for about 360 patients since it began in 2009.
Speaking after collecting the award, Dr Mark Protheroe, one of the GP Partners at the practice, said: “This is a great achievement for everyone within the practice.
“Behind the success is a team of dedicated, caring and hard working staff.
“We have a fantastic Patient Participation Group and Voluntary Drivers scheme who support the practice fully too.
“Thank you to everyone who nominated us for the award, as well as a group of patients and others who I know pray for us regularly.”
Another Lincolnshire West CCG practice was also shortlisted in this category.
Trent Valley Surgery also gained recognition for its work.
Lincolnshire West CCG staff had more celebrating to do during the night. Housekeeper Sharon Davey was named the winner of the Support Staff of the Year award.
Sharon’s nomination said she goes “above and beyond to keep the Cross O’Cliff base as clean and tidy as she possibly can”.
She even leaves staff treats for when they come to work the following morning!
In her own words, Sharon leads a simple life, but her nomination said the organisation “wouldn’t have any other housekeeper”.
Sharon said: “I cannot believe it.
“I’ve been there 16 years. The staff make me feel so welcome.”
Several other Lincolnshire West CCG staff were shortlisted in other categories.
Dr John Coffey was shortlisted in the Doctor of the Year award, Wendy Martin was shortlisted for the Midwife of the Year prize, the Cancer Improvement Team made the shortlist for the Non-clinical Team of the Year award, Nettleham Medical Practice was also shortlisted for the Research, Innovation, Education award and Rachel Roberts and Terry Vine made up the shortlist for Support Staff of the Year award.
