The long term care of patients at a GP practice near Lincoln has been secured

Dates: 20, December, 2019 Category: CCG News

Patients at Crossroads Medical Practice in North Hykeham are being informed that from April next year, their care will be transferred over to a neighbouring medical centre.

The move comes after the GP partners at Crossroads left the practice in November this year following a three year period of the practice being in “special measures”.

Sarah-Jane Mills, Chief Operating Officer at NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said she was pleased to announce that an agreement had been secured with North Hykeham based Richmond Medical Centre.

Patients at Crossroads have had a lot of uncertainty in recent years so it was vital that we made arrangements to ensure patients have access to local health services now and in the future.

Richmond is a well-established and experienced provider of health services in North Hykeham and rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We are confident that they will provide patients with some much needed stability and a high level of care they expect.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) for running Crossroads on a temporary basis while a long term solution was sought.

As part of the move, Richmond will employ all Crossroads staff and continue to use the current premises.

Dr Mark Thornton, GP, Senior Partner, at Richmond Medical Centre said he was working with the CCG and LCHS to ensure any disruption to services will be kept to a minimum.

We want to reassure patients that there will be a wide range of appointments available both at the current Crossroads premises on Lincoln Road, and the Richmond premises on Moor Lane.

We also offer a wider range of services including minor surgery, extended access appointments, and electronic consultations.

A number of drop-in sessions are planned for the New Year to give patients an opportunity to talk to the doctors and practice team from Richmond and to hear more about their plans for future health services and patient care.

Details of the drop-in sessions are as follows:

2.00pm – 4.00pm | Tuesday 21 January 2020 | The Ark, 141 Moor Lane, North Hykeham, Lincoln LN6 9AA

12.00pm – 2.00pm | Thursday 23 January 2020 | The Ark, 141 Moor Lane, North Hykeham, Lincoln LN6 9AA

5.00pm – 7.00pm | Thursday 23 January 2020 | The Ark, 141 Moor Lane, North Hykeham, Lincoln LN6 9AA
